The thread was made by Thread Rolling Machine ,normally the thread size for the oil plug was M12X1.5 with a brass copper to seal the oil from leaking

Heat treatment for the oil pan bolt
Most of the bolt oil plug for aftermarket oil pan didnot have the hardness,but the OEM one had the hardness HRC:32
That was why the oil plug need the heat treatment.
Heat treatment for the oil plug was the key for the seal ,because it need to make the oil plug seat flatness by torque
Why heat treatment
To increase the bolt Mechanical properties ,there were two ways
1.Use better raw material more than 40 Cr
2.Heat Treatment to improve the inside of the steel

After the heat treatment for the oil pan oil pan or cylinder bolt ,we need to take care of the hydrogen embrittlement So before the auo bolt was put inside the cleaning washer tank we need to heat it up to release hydrogen
